The number twelve looked like you.

December 29th, 2009 — 9:43pm

Kind of a bummer that The Number Twelve looks like you had to break up. 9 years playing good olde fashioned rock and roll. It’s certainly an acquired taste, like blood sausage. Brilliant musicians and fun music. But all things end, and they certainly ended on a high note. And now a ton of videos after the jump

Ransom holidays

December 23rd, 2009 — 10:58pm

Look what I received in the mail today! Mark Perez @faceofbass sent me a real physical copy of this band Ransom’s album “Against the grain”. Ransom is a self described melodic metal band but holy shit do they kick you in the balls. I take back my melodic band stance, at least for this band.

You can follow mark on twitter at @faceofbass as well as Ransom at @ransomIS check out their music at http://www.reverbnation.com/ransomis

Holiday Greeting Cards

December 7th, 2009 — 9:40pm

Twitter Greeting Cards

This year I took the time to make up some greeting cards for my fine twitter followers. Most of them were happy to provide a mailing address. I wrote them all handwritten messages. A few are to international friends from South Korea, Mexico and England. I found it fun and hope they enjoy them.

Boston & Cambridge January 31st.

Boston January 31st from Sergio Enciso on Vimeo.

So 8 months ago I posted something And here are the results of it.  This was shot by photographer extraordinaire Matt Baldelli. And the Ghetto Beatz by Me. This was sort of a test to see if such thing was possible. The thing is we chose a very very cold day to do such testing.

Richard Lainhart Performing ‘Oraison’

October 1st, 2009 — 7:56am

Richard Lainhart performing a piece called Oraison, composed by Olivier Messiaen (original) in 1937 for six Ondes Martenot. He transcribed it for a Buchla 200e synthesizer and a Haken Continuum Fingerboard controller.

From the time I first touched the Haken Continuum, I’d wanted to use it to play a composition by Olivier Messiaen called “Oraison”. I first heard “Oraison” years ago as a student of electronic music, and had fallen in love with its simple, beautiful harmonies and profound sense of mystery.

Standup Musician

amirite1

Attending the Telefon Tel Aviv concert yesterday motivated me to do a little electronic show of my own at coffee shop type venue. I’m nowhere close to figuring out what songs to play or how I’m going to play them. However I did come up with some things to say between songs.  Note: I these aren’t funny, that’s the point, Mr. point-out-obviousness-in-comic-book-guy’s-voice-kind-of-person.

Things to say between songs.

  • I wasn’t supposed to play that song.
  • Electronic music is an easy gig, just hit play on itunes and check your facebook while twirling a knob or two.
  • Why isn’t anyone dancing?
  • Stop clapping the song’s not over.
  • Feel free to flash me
  • If you don’t like my music please complain to the venue, they hired me and forced you to pay.
  • If you do like my music you should seek counseling.
  • I will be selling cupcakes in the back
  • To the guys that are holding their girl in front of them so they don’t accidentally rub elbows with another guy: I would not worry about having your girl stolen by the guy next to you, you should actually be worried about holding your girl too close to my manliness, she might not come home with you.
  • goodnight.

You can use these at your show if you’d like. Creative Commons and all that junk. Or you could make your own.

I’ll post something serious next time. Sorry about the photo Josh, you are very down to earth and make great music. AM-I-RITE?
