the Ohm 64

the Ohm 64

Livid Instruments is now taking pre-orders for their incredibly attractive Open Source Midi Controler. It features an 8×8 grid of programmable back lit pads. 16 rotary knobs. 8 Faders, A cross fader and 8 mute/solo buttons and a tempo tap. It’s fully class compliant so no need to bother with drivers. It has Midi in and Midi out so you can control external devices with it. It’s USB powered  It’s wood paneled which automatically means cool.

One of the main features of this is it’s openness. It comes with Open Source software tools to create your own LED talkback interaction. And could possible support OSC.

Each one comes with Ohm Core software included for MIDI editing, and LED talkback programming and Cell DNA video performance software included.

It ships in June and it’s available for pre-order now for $599

I’m considering getting one. If I do I’ll post a review.

You can find more information at their website Livid Instruments Ohm 64

Here is a sample video from them. There are more on their Blog.

kaki king rocks out at TED

June 4th, 2009 — 9:13pm

TED is known to have amazing thinkers go out and give speaches that completely obliterate your mind. So it seems fitting that they had Kaki King go up on stage and blow your mind, not with words, but with music.  Kaki was the first female on Rolling Stone’s “guitar god’ list . Though personally I think “guitar gods” are about as lame as they get I’m glad Kaki was put on the list. Not so much for being the first woman but for the way she approaches the guitar. She treats the guitar in a more percussive manner. Her music can be beautiful but can have an underlying sense of chaos and a little violence.  I know shes’ been on here before mostly becasue I have a crush on her [ and every other girl ever] but I thought I’d share this with you.

Still moving around.

March 9th, 2009 — 9:54pm

So I’m still getting things settled. It’s tough working on multiple projects when they all desire your profound attention. I’ve made a little hub page for all of my webness at imetsergio.com clever no?… no. I’m keeping track of the Maquina stuff at MaquinaInsensible.com  Shavva and I are getting along fine with Severeves.com I’ll do the bulk of my music blogging there. Now that I’ve divided everything  this personal blog will be home to more randomness. I mean it’s not like anyone reads this anyway.   Anyway see you around the Interwebs

I shot this with my brothers. Its 1 hour lapsed down to 30 seconds. Sorry it wasn’t longer. The audio recording of my brothers is actually more entertaining. Music by NIN Ghosts 36(cc)

UPDATE heres is the audio from the video edited down. It’s really a waste of time to listen but ahead if you must. I Warn you it gets really weird by the end. (we standing around doing nothing for an hour)

Finally got a Flip Video Mino HD.  It’s simple to use and shoots 720p HD. I’m using Vimeo to host the videos. They only allow 1 HD video per month so I’ll have to the the premium account for future videos. All in all a great camera.
